Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
